October 2017

Witches Night Out
It wasn't the actual day, we went a week earlier to Gardner Village so it wasn't so busy.  We first went to dinner and then walked the shops.  It's always fun being out with these ladies!
(Amy, Me, Cassie, Keersten, and Jill)

Rem is still getting ready for Halloween, making Nightmare before Christmas decorations.  The kids love helping him!  Halloween is an exciting time at our house!

Paxton had crazy sock day at school.

Halloween Party

Rem and I went to an adults only Halloween Party at our friends Bobby and Jill's.  Our costumes, Sirius Black and Professor Trelawny from Harry Potter won first place in the mens and womens costume contest!  There was lots of friends, yummy food, a baby picture-guess who game and a surprise murder mystery at the end of the party.  It sure was a lot of fun!

Sorenson Halloween Party
We don't usually get to see all the cousins in their Halloween costumes, so for one of our Sunday dinners we made it a Halloween party and everyone wore their costumes.

It's becoming tradition to make Jack-o-lantern pizzas for dinner during the month of October.

Pumpkin Farm
We went to the pumpkin farm with our friends, the Goodmans to go pick out pumpkins for our front porch.  I always love looking through all the different kinds of pumpkins and gourds.  There was also a slide, some tractors, a corn pit and some animals at the farm for the kids.  I love this time of year!

Preschool Field Trip at Gardner Village
Graham had a field trip at the Gardner Village farm with his preschool.  It was so fun to see all the animals and even get to hold the bunnies!  It kind of makes me want to get a bunny.  They even got to sit on a baby bull and ride a pony.  We then walked around Gardner Village to look at some of the witches.  We ended up coming back that evening to bring Paxton and Rem because they gave us half off so Paxton could get a chance to ride a pony.

Last Flag Football Game

Paxton's biggest fans!  So grateful to have family to come watch this kiddo, it sure means a lot to him!  It was a good season!

Aquarium

We love having an Aquarium pass so we can come whenever we want!  It's always fun when we get to bring dad with us!

Classic Fun Center
The kids love coming to Classic!

U of U football game
It's always fun to join my dad for at least one football game.  We love getting all dressed up in our red, even Rem will support!  Grandpa bought all the kiddos a hat this year!  Go UTES!  The kids do get a little restless, but as long as we keep the snack coming they usually do pretty good.

Happy Birthday to Me!
My day started out with playing in the leaves with this cute boy and his friend Elly at the neighbors HUGE pile of leaves.  And it ended with us going to Top Golf with my family.  It's my brother-in-laws birthday too and we got to celebrate together this year!  I love Top Golf, it's a lot of fun, even if you're not very good at it.

I got to help out a Graham's preschool Halloween Party and make spider webs with a spider to hang up in the window.  Those kids sure were cute in their costumes.  We even got to hear them perform some Halloween songs.

Trunk or Treat
I have a love/hate relationship with Trunk or Treat.  I hate because the kids already get enough candy and don't need more excuses to get more candy, but I love it because it's so fun to get to see all your neighbors dressed up and it's just a fun night over all.  We even found some Harry Potter fans and not one of the was dressed up as the same character!
Brenna as Hermione, someones cousin as Ginny, Graham as Ron, Paxton as Harry and Micah as Malfoy (he wasn't very thrilled about being Malfoy, but I guess all his friends were doing a Harry Potter theme and voted him as Malfoy with his blonde hair).

Trick or Treat at Dad's work
Another excuse to load up on candy.  And here at dad's office they really can load up on a ton of candy!  They both filled their buckets to the very top!  It's fun to walk around and look at how some of the areas decorated for Halloween.  It was also fun to go see Uncle Ben while we were there.

GG's annual Halloween Party
We love my grandma's Halloween party.  Most of my cousins dress up, so we all get our pictures taken in costume and then we enjoy a yummy dinner with some sort of Halloween treat.  And then we carve pumpkins in the garage.  Paxton wanted to do a Jack Skellington face on his and the face Graham picked out for his ended up looking very similar.

Let's be honest, Mom and Dad do most of the pumpkin carving and even pulling out all the guts.  The kids don't want to touch it, little stinkers.

Paxton's 2nd Grade Halloween parade and party
I also got to help with Paxton's Halloween party.  First was the parade with the whole school.  Graham and I dressed up in our costumes and watched the kids walk around.  I love seeing all the creative costumes.  For the party I did the craft and we made a paper plate spiders to hang in the window with lots of googly eyes.

Later that evening Grandpa and Grandma came over to trick or treat with us.  I'm always torn whether I'd rather go out with my kids to trick or treat or stay home to see all the cute trick or treaters and see how they all react to our fun house.  I usually am the one that goes out with the kids though.  It was nice this year that I didn't have to help them at each door, I could just stay on the sidewalk while they ran up to the door.

Rem does do an amazing job on making our house the coolest for Halloween!  He even made it on to Desert New as one of the top Halloween houses to visit.

He did say to me this year though, "it's pretty sad that the person that hates my stuff the most is my wife".  Yes, I don't love the process.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the outcome and how fun and awesome our house is on Halloween, but I'm the only one that has to deal with the huge mess, the many hours spent on the creations, the hording of supplies, the money spent and where the heck are we going to store all of this??  But I do love it in the end.

Yes Graham threw up tonight because he ate way too much candy.  It was a good thing though, because we tried to tell him this would happen and now he has learned his lesson.

Happy Halloween from the Harry Potter crew!

Paxton chose our family costume theme this year.  We also didn't do a theme because the boys were not agreeing.  But Graham finally decided it'd be cool to be Ron and have red hair and a rat!  I love how our costumes tuned out this year!  Rem completely cracks me up with that wig on!  It was longer when we first got it and he'd whip it around and run his fingers through it to be funny and he had us all belly laughing and in tears.

The cutest Harry Potter and Ron Weasley!

My sister was awesome and took some fun pictures of our costumes and some of our Halloween decorations.

This is probably one of my most favorite times of the year (except for the prep beforehand now because I barely have a husband the month of October).

Happy Halloween!!!
