March 2016

Potty Training Graham

Ugh, aren't those one of the worst words to a mother "potty training"?!  Well the first time I had to do it with Paxton, it was not pleasant, so I was not looking forward to training Graham.  But he has been showing sign for a few months now and my life slowed down just enough that I could be home most of the time with Graham for a few days, so I decided it was time.  And to my surprise... it was SO easy!!!  Graham did awesome!  Of course we had a few accidents, but for the most part he did so great! And he loved having potty charts and earning things like a toy car or picking out his own new underwear from the store.

Home remodeling
I didn't think we would get to remodeling our master bedroom for a while.  We had a door and some rollers to hang one of those "barn wood sliding doors", so I thought Rem would just replace our little pocket door to our bathroom and call it good for a while.  But to my surprise he started taking down all the baseboards and ugly brown blinds and putting  up new baseboards, painting the wall blue and the cabinets under the window seat white (they were brown before).  And then we ordered some white shutters for the windows!  I love my bedroom now!  I still have some decorating to do (we have nothing hung on the walls), but it looks and feels so much better!  I'm so lucky to have such a talented and handy husband who likes to work on our home!

He even built some upper shelves in the garage one weekend.  Now to get it organized...

I love watching these two play together even if they make messes.  Quite often they will wake up before me in the morning and I will find them playing together, whether it's in the playroom, backyard or somewhere else.

Grahams first time going to the dentist.  He was a pro and did everything they told him to do!  I guess it helps watching your big brother go first and seeing how easy it is.

Having fun with the face swap app.  This is Paxton and Graham.  I don't think either one of them could pull of each others hair ;)

St. Paxton's Day
Paxton had to give an oral report on St. Patrick's day in school so part of it he learned about leprechauns.  So then he wanted to create a trap to try and catch the leprechaun.  They woke up to the chairs all tipped over and the trap had been set off, but no leprechaun inside.

They boys also woke up to green and gold balloons falling into their room as they opened their bedroom door that morning.  And Paxton got one of his favorite breakfasts, Lucky Charms!  It makes it easy for me instead of making a green breakfast.  If I make green milk, they won't drink it.  So Lucky Charms it is!  I never buy them, so it is definitely a treat!

After school Grandma Moss picked him up and took him birthday shopping to the Lego store!  And she even sat down and helped him build some of it.  He was in heaven!

Then later we had a quick dinner of his favorite, Mac and Cheese.  And then off to the movies!

It was a successful and awesome birthday for Paxton!  We sure love this kid!

Here are a few things about Paxton...

6 years old
53 lbs
46 1/2"

Paxton is really into Legos right now and is doing pretty good at building them mostly on his own (at least the smaller kits). He loves Star Wars the most right now, but also minecraft, anything superhero and anything to do with weapons. He loves to dance and asks for dance parties all the time (which consists of turning on music and the whole family dancing together). He's doing well in school, but complains every morning about having to go even though he comes home having a good day. He even told me that he would miss his teacher over spring break, a week with no school. Whenever you mention a food that sounds really yummy or if pax sees a food that looks really yummy, he sticks his tongue out as far as he can and licks his lips all the way around in circles, a couple of times. It makes me smile every time. I always say "I love that tongue".

I don't really mind letting Paxton watch shows. He is usually pretty active during them. He's not usually sitting down. He'll gather his swords or guns or stuffed animals or whatever the show is about and he is playing right along with them. It's pretty cute to watch him. I need to get this on video!

Mom: wow you're a fast runner!
Pax: that's because I'm half road runner!
(I use to be so good about writing down funny things he says, I need to get better at it obviously.
 This is all I had.)

Party time!
Paxton wanted a Star Wars birthday party, so that he got!  I decided to do it at the church so they could run and play and not have to worry about them destroying my house.  It was perfect!

Rem was awesome and did Jedi training with the kids and they all earned a badge.

We were preparing them for the big battle where I  had balloons everywhere for them to fight.

And of course they all got to attack Darth Vader in the end.

We also had game time and ate storm trooper cupcakes.

And of course present time.  Paxton had a blast and so did the other kids, it was a hit! (and a little chaotic)

Easter and birthday celebrations with the
Sorenson family
Both my family and Rem's family celebrated Easter a week early and combined it with celebrating March birthdays.  Paxton loved all his new toys he got!  Here are just a couple of them, he got tons.  This is kid is spoiled, but it's fun to get spoiled on your birthday!

Luckily some of the eggs were filled with little toys, because we still have 2 more Easter Egg hunts.

Eating birthday cupcakes with cousin Keaton.

He sure is a monkey!  I'm not holding him, just making sure to catch him if he falls.

Cousin Olivia, me and Paxton.

Grandma teaching them the meaning of Easter.  I was surprised on how well she held their attention.
Lucy's face cracks me up in this picture.  I sure love these kiddos and had fun helping them hunt for eggs.  They each picked a color and then they could only find that color of egg, which was a lot of fun.  That way they actually had to search for them and not just pick up the first ten they see.

Love this cute family of mine, Yoda basket, toy gun and all!

And a week later we had EASTER at our house.

The boys looking through their baskets Easter morning.  They got new church clothes, coloring books and treats.

It was a treat to hear from President Nelson in our ward this Easter day.  We are lucky to have two of his wonderful daughters in our ward so every time one of his grand kids leaves or comes home from a mission, he is there supporting them and always gets some time to speak.

I came home from church early for two reasons, because I was feeling sick and to be the Easter bunny so when the kids got home from church they could hunt for eggs.

As an adult I still love coloring eggs and it's even more fun to have these cute kids to do it with.  I didn't think we were going to get around to it this Easter because I wasn't feeling well, but the boys surprised me and got it all set up and then woke me up from a nap so I could come join them.  It put a smile on my face for sure!

My favorite pictures of the kids together are ones of Graham looking up to his big brother and either wanting to be like him and copy him or laughing at or with him.  It's so adorable!
