Such a Trooper

I totally forgot to post this...  oops

So back on February 2nd, we took Paxton to Primary Children's for his Bronchoscopy.  This was pretty much the final step to figuring out why Paxton wheezes.  His wheeze isn't as bad as it was when he was a baby, but he still does it.  It happens when he laughs really hard, cries really hard, or is playing hard.  Our gut feeling was that he was fine because it never seemed to bother him.  But we wanted to be sure so we made the decision to put him under so we could get a closer look.

Paxton had to fast that day.  We had to be to Primary's at 9:30 am, but his appointment wasn't til 11:00, which they actually didn't take him back until 11:40!  We had put Paxton to bed a lot later than usual, hoping that he would sleep in the next morning which he did, but being at the hospital that long he kept asking for a cracker.  It was so hard to say "Sorry buddy, no crackers until after you see the doctor" to those big brown eyes.  Poor little guy didn't understand why he couldn't eat.  That whole morning he was happy, sad, happy, sad as you can see in the pictures.  They had lots of toys there to try and keep him happy.

Later we had them give him something to make him sleepy so he wouldn't have a hard time leaving us.  As soon as that kicked in they wheeled him away in a wagon and we waited.  It wasn't long before the doctor came out.  And this is the part where I am horrible about repeating what the doctor told us because it all just goes over my head.  From what I understood he told us that there is something in his airway that collapses about 50% that causes the wheezing, but he thinks that he should grow out of it.  Yeah!  He just told us to notice in a year if his wheezing is still the same then to come talk to him or if he can't keep up with running with the other kids and is out of breath.

A little while later we finally got to go back and see him.  Paxton did pretty well coming off the anesthesia, he was able to keep down the juice and applesauce we gave him.  He kept crying on and off though, he didn't like the things that were hooked up to his feet.  We finally got to go home, well we went to Grandma's house because I had to work later.  We called Grandma and had her start making Paxton's favorite, Mac and Cheese.  When carrying Pax, he was like dead weight, like he had no strength.  When we got to Grandma's I changed his diaper and stood him up and he couldn't even walk, I won't lie we were all laughing.  It was like when you spin in circles really fast for a while and then you try to walk and sometimes you fall over, that was Paxton.  I wish I would have taken a video of him because he was saying funny, random words that I can't even remember now.

All in all we are glad that he is just fine!  He was such a trooper that day!

I love the little hospital clothes that he got to wear.  They even tied up in the back like the gowns.

Poor little guy! It's always so hard to see your little one in the hospital like that! How wonderful that the doctor said he was okay and that he'll most likely grow out of it! Tell him we're proud of him for being so brave:)
